Ep 3 – The Introductory Episode

Todays episode is pretty self-explanatory, it’s an introduction episode.  I really think you will enjoy it.  I discuss podcasting, the show itself, the future of the show, and I tell you a little about me as well.  It is a fun, relaxed show that wasn’t edited quite as heavily as the last 2.  I had a great time doing it.  Normal operations will resume for the next episode.  We will cover The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress.  It will be a 1 part series unlike The Trial.  The episode after that will be a film-analysis special episode talking about the 1979 classic sci-fi/horror Alien.  The following show will be on the the next book we are reading, Fight Club, by Chuck Palahniuk.  Thanks for listening and share the show!

Ep 2 – “The Trial,” and “Kafkaesque” Pt.2

This is the final episode for The Trial.  While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I’m glad to move on to a new book.  In this episode I discuss the 2nd half of the book and the Orson Wells-directed 1962 film.  There are a few asides about the podcast process and upcoming projects as well.  I think you will enjoy Pt.2 just as much as Pt.1.  Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and follow me on twitter!  In this episode I reference a BBC interview with the great Orson Wells, and a “question and answer video” he participated in at The University of Southern California.  The 2nd part of the novel asks the reader questions about what it means to be free. The world K lives in has an absurd focus on the peripheral as opposed to the direct and central truth, which has many parallels to our own world.  Many themes are explored in the famous Kafka parable Before The Law, which is included in both the book and the film, and I give my own personal take on it.  It stands as its own work, and was the only part of The Trial, that was published in Kafka’s lifetime.  Make sure you pick up the next book on the list, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistressby Robert Heinlein.  Also stay tuned for the next podcast which will be an introductory episode.  Thank you for listening and I hope you enjoy the show!
